As students in Fulton County Schools (FCS) have begun returning to face-to-face instruction, a number of changes were implemented to ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors. Among the most vital of these changes is the development and introduction of a new electronic FCS COVID-19 Reporting Portal for parents. This electronic reporting process will allow for a more direct reaction from primarily the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) with support from FCS to promptly respond and address student/family cases of COVID-19.
Message from Our Principal
Dear Woodland Middle School Scholars and Parents,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. I am very honored to embark upon this journey with you this school year. Who would have thought we would be in this situation, under these circumstances? Although, universal remote learning is not the platform we all hoped for; we have proved during this year to be relentless, strong, and courageous. I am optimistic that we will continue to pursue excellence and remain focused on our core business, which is a high level of teaching and learning.
Although universal remote learning may be an unfamiliar environment, our goal this school year is to help and serve you. We want our students to be academically competitive and explore technology at a high level while developing a love for learning and building robust relationships. We will strive to build a community where students will be encouraged to demonstrate good character and make good choices.
The Woodland Middle School staff is looking forward to a powerful school year filled with exciting new experiences that will help our scholars exhibit “Woodland Pride”. I had the opportunity to open our pre-planning professional development week with teachers and staff in early August to share our Woodland theme for this school year. Our theme is “We are Woodland”. I have stressed the importance of maintaining a sense of community at Woodland, demonstrating grace to others, and remaining positive during this time. These actions will continue to fuel our theme, “We are Woodland”. I have asked our staff to be intentional about showing grace to others, especially our scholars and parents. I’m asking that you do the same for our staff. Assuming goodwill, demonstrating kindness, and joining us in the educational process of your child are ways you could show grace.
In closing, I sincerely hope that you will reach out to us if you have questions, need guidance, or require resources. Our current state of reality is new for us, like it is for you; however, I am confident that we will have a successful year for our scholars together. I am honored to lead this work with our scholars, parents, and staff at Woodland Middle School. I am extremely excited about our future and I acknowledge that there would not be a “WE ARE WOODLAND” without you. Thank you for your continued support and I hope our families will remain safe and healthy during this time.
In the spirit of #weareWoodland,
Principal, Woodland Middle School
