Weather Info for January 23, 2025

Fulton County schools located south of Interstate 20 will have a delayed start on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This 2-hour delay affects only FCS schools in Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, South Fulton, and Union City. A 2-hour delay allows additional time for roadways to clear and improve travel conditions. Schools in communities north of Interstate 20 (Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs) will operate on normal schedules.

What does this mean for students and families?

  • Students who attend schools south of Interstate 20 – defined as those in the cities of Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, South Fulton, and Union City – will go to school two hours later than the normal start time. Parents should expect buses to run two hours later than normal to pick up students and school will end at its normal dismissal time.
  • Schools in communities north of Interstate 20  (Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs) will operate on normal schedules. There is no impact to their school schedules.
  • Students who live in communities south of Interstate 20 but attend schools north of I-20 due to magnet offerings, transfer programs, etc. will experience a two-hour delay in their morning pick-up bus transportation.
  • All schools, regardless of location, will serve breakfast and lunch and will hold extracurricular activities (after-school and evening meetings, extended day programs/after-school care, tutorials, clubs, athletic practices and games) as scheduled.
