Meet the Zone Superintendents: Ron Maxwell, Zone 3

Fulton County Schools (FCS) has appointed seven Zone Superintendents for the 2020-2021 school year. We have asked each of them to answer six questions so you can get to know them. We are sharing responses from Ron Maxwell, Superintendent, Zone 3. Visit the Learning Zone 3 webpage.

Ron Maxwell Why did you become an educator and who inspires you most?

I became an educator because I wanted to ensure that ALL students no matter of race, economic status, gender, or zip code have access to a rigorous and relevant education. As it relates to who inspires me the most: I am inspired by visiting classrooms and observing teaching/learning that provides students with the opportunity to be creative, think critically, communicate and collaborate.

What are your hopes as you take on this new challenge of Zone Superintendent?

My goal as a Zone Superintendent is to be a thought partner and provide support to principals. My focus is to increase student achievement in all the schools in my zone by assuring that each school is implementing high quality standards-based instruction.

What's the top item on your bucket list?

My bucket list has changed due to COVID-19. The pandemic has prevented me from spending quality time with my immediate and extended family members. I look forward to a large family gathering.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy listening to music, reading, and spending time with my family.

What's the last song you added to your playlist?

“More Than Anything” by Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise.

What's your favorite book?

One of my all-time favorite books is "Relentless" by Tim S. Grover.
