Fulton County Schools Budget Services Department Wins International Award
Fulton County Schools has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Budget for the fiscal year 2021. To receive this award, a governmental unit must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines of 14 mandatory and rigorous criteria for effective budget presentation. Under the leadership of Budget Services Executive Director Tracy Watson, this is the twelfth consecutive year that FCS has won this award which represents GFOA’s highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.
Chief Financial Officer Marvin Dereef said, “This award reflects the commitment of our department to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. I am proud of Ms. Watson and her team who have consistently produced outstanding work in budget presentation.”
Superintendent Mike Looney concurred. “We have confidence in our Budget Services department,” he said. “The team has a solid track record of reliable leadership and has again exhibited the highest standards in dependably managing public funds in support of our students.”
