FCS Coronavirus Update for January 14, 2022
As COVID-19 continues to be a challenge in our community, it is important Fulton County Schools (FCS) communicate updates and/or changes to COVID-related protocols within the district. Face-to-face instruction started this week, and we are now amending our operational guidelines going forward. Continuing this mitigation strategy, all schools will follow the instructions below for the upcoming week of January 18-21, 2022:
- Masks are required in all Fulton County Schools buildings through Friday, 1/21.
- Essential academic field trips are permitted beginning Tuesday, 1/18.
- Third-party facility rentals can resume on Tuesday, 1/18.
- Clubs (k-12), extramural activities (k-12), and middle school athletics will resume on Tuesday, 1/18.
- In- and out-of-season athletic and performing arts practices and competitions will continue with participant screening and indoor capacity limitations raised to 30% beginning Tuesday, 1/18.
Other items of note:
- After school care and extended learning will continue.
- FCS will continue to implement contact tracing. Please note, the Response Team is facing an unprecedented number of reported cases and will reply as quickly as possible in the order in which the reports were received.
- Staff who are waiting for COVID-19 test results or have had an exposure can report to work wearing a mask if they are asymptomatic.
Please be safe, and as always:
- Do not come to school/work if you are sick.
- If you test positive stay home and isolate.
- We strongly encourage families to participate in vaccination and testing opportunities.
- Please follow public health guidelines and report any COVID-19 related issues to the Employee or Parent portals.
Thank you to all students, parents and staff for your continued patience in addressing the challenges of COVID and dedication to our mission of teaching and learning.
