Fulton County Schools (FCS) has entered into an agreement with Atlanta Technical College (ATC) to collaborate on FCS Middle College, a different path to high school graduation where students graduate with a high school diploma and two technical college certificates. FCS Middle College will allow students to take a combination of high school and college level courses and will provide a relevant and career-ready curriculum for students. Students will take nine core academic courses while focusing their remaining coursework training in high-wage, high-skill, in-demand career fields.

FCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney and ATC President Dr. Victoria Seals signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), on April 21, 2022, during a ceremony at FCS South Learning Center.

"With over 30,000 students in the South Fulton area, our students will have many options to feed their gifts and interests," said FCS Board VP Kimberly Dove. "At FCS Middle College with ATC, they will have the opportunity to explore their love of teaching, pre-school, drones, automotive, airplane maintenance, while earning a college education. This prepares our students to pursue a career that delivers an excellent living wage. But this is only the beginning in Fulton County Schools, where students are first."

Dr. Looney recognized Dr. Gyimah Whitaker, Deputy Chief Academic Officer, for "leading the charge with so many team members to help the vision of a new Middle College move forward and closer to fruition." Other participants in the ceremony included College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom, Technical College Commissioner Greg Dozier and Executive Director of Academic Programs, Yalanda Bell.

All FCS Middle College coursework is tuition free for participating students.
