Intro to Art

This Course is designed for 8th graders who are interested in pursuing art at the high school level.  Throughout the course, students will be introduced to many aspects of visual art, including but not limited to: art as personal communication, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, design, aesthetics, careers, art criticism and art history.  At the conclusion of Intro to Art, students will have acquired the foundation to continue into any Visual Art pathway at the high school level.

Intro to Health Care

Introduction to Healthcare science is a course that builds the foundation for careers in Medical Services.

This course is suitable for students wishing to choose a career pathway in the healthcare industry.

This course is designed to give initial exposure to Healthcare Science skills and frame of mind to practice in the healthcare industry. Several concepts such as health, wellness, and preventative care are evaluated with a knowledge of ethical and legal responsibilities of today’s healthcare provider.

Foundation skills such as medical terminology, microbiology, and basic life support are initiated. Students are taught to apply the guidelines as designated by applicable regulatory agencies such as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and Center for Disease Control (CDC). This course is broad-based with high impact and is a prerequisite for advanced HSTE courses.

 

Students may continue the pathway to include the second-year course, Essentials of Healthcare.

 

AUDIO VIDEO TECHNOLOGY AND FILM I

Current 6th grade students can apply to take this 7th grade course and earn a high school credit. In AVTF I, students learn how to use a different shots and film composition rules to create a variety of content. If interested, please scan the QR code below for the application.

8th Grade Broadcast Apps Course

All students currently in 7th grade can apply for this year long HS Credit course which is a part of the Audio Video Technology and Film Pathway. In this course, students create content for The Nest, have the opportunity to enter short film competitions, and how to use different Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Character Animator, After Effects, etc. If interested in applying, please scan the QR code below to access the application.
