Administrator Honored for Work-Based Learning Expo
Tonya Eaton, an FCS Work-Based Learning Administrator, was honored with a first-place award from the Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association and the Georgia Department of Education for her successful coordination of the Work-Based Learning Expo. Ms. Eaton, along with the Career & Technical Education Department, launched the inaugural, district-wide Work-Based Learning Expo in October 2017, attracting more than 800 students from across the Fulton County School system. The event’s theme was, “Move Forward and Claim Your Dreams” and offered business-focused workshops to help strengthen students’ employability and work skills. It was specifically designed for students enrolled in the program, all of whom received academic credit for work, internships and apprenticeships. The day-long event won praise from participants and was featured on WABE.
