Langston Hughes Boys Celebrate Back-to-Back Championships
Langston Hughes High School boys celebrated their second straight basketball championship with a ring ceremony recently. The team won in the Georgia High School Association 6A division.
Georgia basketball coaching legend Doug Lipscomb was the keynote speaker. Lipscomb, who has won six state basketball titles, told the parents, coaches, and team members that "winning championships is a product of hard work."
Langston Hughes Coach Rory Welsh, named Georgia Athletic Association 6A Coach of the Year and Region 5 Coach of the Year, called the name of each team member, coach, and manager, as he presented the 2018 rings. "We are indebted to our parents, students, and community for their continued support of our winning team," Welsh said.
Latesha Reeves, Langston Hughes principal, welcomed guests. "We thank you for coming out this morning to celebrate our students," Reeves said. South Fulton Mayor Bill Edwards congratulated the team and was presented with a team portrait by Coach Welsh.
