Evoline C. West Hosts Annual M.I.S.T. Night
Evoline C. West Elementary hosted its annual Media Instructional Technology STEM Teacher (MIST) Night recently. The community event included a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) magician, STEM escape rooms, technology challenges, STEM student showcases and virtual reality experiences.
"MIST night is an opportunity for students to showcase their STEM expertise and solve STEM challenges as a family," said Principal Jennifer Burton. "This event allows our community to be engaged in the STEM innovation that E. C. West students experience every day."
The evening kicked off with a check presentation of $1,000 to Principal Jennifer Burton from the 100 Black Men of South Metro.
Board President Linda Bryant joined in the STEM celebration and watched STEM presentations during the special student showcase.
The MIST program is a unique framework that has been implemented to grow students in STEM. Through this program, students are given more hands-on time to work on their STEM projects and more resources for STEM instruction.
Evoline C. West is the first in South Fulton and the fourth school in the district to become state-certified in STEM.
