College and Career Month Events

TODAY marks the 2019 COLLEGE/CAREER MONTH kickoff!  Throughout the month of OCTOBER, counselors will present various opportunities for Centennial students to explore post-secondary options.  The student opportunities are as follows:

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES:

(OCT. 1, 2019) APPLICATION STATION FEATURING GGC:  Interested senior students will apply to Georgia Gwinnett College during GGC’s free application period.

(OCT. 4, 2019) CAREER-FOCUSED FRIDAY:  A mini career fair will occur during all lunches in the cafeteria.  Students will explore lucrative careers that do not require a 4-year college degree. 

(OCT. 7, 2019) MILITARY MONDAY: During all lunches, students will explore military opportunities.  Three branches of the military will present information from various stations throughout the cafeteria. Our JROTC students will assist with ASVAB sign-up *Teachers may wear jeans and military-inspired tops*

(OCT. 16, 2019)  SAT/PSAT DAY:  Students will participate in a free administration of the PSAT (9th-11th grades) or SAT (12th grade students who registered)

(OCT. 18, 2019) COLLEGE-FOCUSED FRIDAY: A mini HBCU-focused college fair will occur during all lunches in the cafeteria.  Students will have an opportunity to explore historically black colleges and universities.

(OCT. 21, 2019)  SPORT MADNESS MONDAY: During 5th period, interested athletes will hear from Coach Burch and Coach Smith about NCAA eligibility requirements. Students must register to participate. Students should refer to the posters throughout the building (including the counseling office) for registration information. *Teachers may wear jeans and jerseys (or sport team tops)*

(OCT. 24, 2019) APPLY-TO-COLLEGE DAY: Every senior student will have an opportunity to apply to at least one college with the assistance of a college representative and/or counselor.

(OCT. 25, 2019) COLLEGE-FOCUSED FRIDAY: A mini college fair will occur during all lunches in the cafeteria.  Students will have an opportunity to explore various colleges and universities.  Dual Enrollment information will also be disseminated through 4th period classes.
