Fulton School Board Meeting Recognitions: February 12, 2019
NOTE - The Fulton County Board of Education is proud to recognize the achievements of FCS schools, students, and staff at our monthly meetings. A portion of the remarks have been transcribed here.
Cliff Jones: Good Evening President Bryant, Members of the Board, and Dr. Loe. Tonight, I have several awards to present so let’s get started.
GDOE Title I Distinguished Schools List
Our first award goes to four schools that have been acknowledged by the Georgia Department of Education for being the highest-performing Title I schools in the state, placing them on the 2018 Title I Distinguished Schools list. Schools with this designation are among the top 5% of all Title I schools when ranked according to their most recent CCRPI scores. Would leaders from Amana Academy, Hillside Elementary, River Eves Elementary and Woodland Elementary Schools please come to the front?
These four schools have demonstrated hard work and commitment to provide the additional assistance needed to meet the educational need of students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. They are to be commended for this tremendous achievement. Congratulations to you all!
And now I will ask Chief Operations Officer Patrick Burke to come forward to present the next award.
Patrick Burke: Thank you Cliff.
Alyssia Wright, Nutrition Award
Our next award represents one of numerous honors this department has garnered this year. Alyssia Wright, Executive Director of Nutrition, has been named the 2019 recipient of the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence Silver Leadership Award. This national designation recognizes one Food Service Director in the country who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, fiscal achievement and innovation in menuing and merchandising. Would Alyssia Wright please come to the front?
For 30 years, the FAME Awards have been given to a deserving school nutrition professional who raises the industry standards within his or her school districts and communities. This acknowledgement of success was presented last month at the School Nutrition Association’s 2019 School Nutrition Industry Conference in Austin, TX. Alyssia has been with Fulton County Schools for six years. Congratulations on this national honor!
And now I will ask Chief Financial Officer Robert Morales to come forward to present the final awards.
Robert Morales: Thank you, Patrick.
GFOA Award to Budget Services Department
I am pleased to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association has presented Fulton County Schools’ Budget Services Department with the Best Practices in School Budgeting award. To receive this honor, the department had to satisfy nationally recognized standards of process excellence and successfully develop a budget that best aligns resources with student achievement goals. This year, Budget Services is one of just six schools in the nation to win this award. Under the leadership of Budget Services Director Tracy Ogletree-Watson, the department has earned this significant recognition for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Would the following employees please come forward?
- Tracy Ogletree-Watson
- Chanel Mason
- Ray White
- Olga Etris
- Jennifer Banks
- Tiffany Gleaton
- Dawn Pinckney
- Danica Daniels
- Marvin Dereef
Congratulations to everyone. This concludes our recognitions.
