Riverwood sophomore earns Latino MVP award, scholarship
Marco Nuñez is just a sophomore student at Riverwood International Charter School, but he already has won the 2022 Latino Athlete Most Valuable Player Award and scholarship.
Telemundo Atlanta, The Atlanta Braves and Barrios Virguez Law Firm recently presented Nuñez with a $5,000 scholarship at SunTrust Park. -
Five Riverwood students to represent school in nationally recognized All-State weekend
Five Riverwood International Charter School students will represent the school at the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State weekend.
Two students from band, two from chorus and one orchestra student have earned this distinction. The event takes place March 3 to 5, at The Classic Center in Athens. -

Five Riverwood International Charter School students were selected to represent their school band, orchestra and chorus at the Georgia Music Educators All-State Weekend.

Five distinguished Riverwood alumni honored
Riverwood International Charter School recognized five distinguished alumni as part of its 50th anniversary celebration this year, inducting them virtually and in-person at the school on March 4.
These alumni include Becky Albertalli, Joe Alterman, Kate Bedingfield, Lieutenant Commander Cary Rickoff, and Wintta Woldemariam. -
Riverwood culinary team heading to national competition
The Riverwood International Charter School culinary team won first place at the ProStart State Invitational on March 22, which sends them to the national competition in May 2022.
The school’s culinary arts team is composed of seniors John Garcia and RalShae Foster, along with juniors Maxwell Shank and Luis Juarez. They will advance to the National ProStart Invitational, the country’s premier high school competition focused on restaurant management and culinary arts. -

Riverwood 2022 Senior Riverwood rising senior earns perfect ACT score
Nathan Nichols, a 2022 senior at Riverwood International Charter School, has earned a perfect ACT score of 36.
According to ACT, less than 1% of students earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2020, only 5,579 of 1.67 million students who took the ACT scored a 36. The ACT consists of separate tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. -
