Teacher of the Year 2022
Congratulations to Ms. Kathleen Burns! Ms. Burns has worked at Hapeville Elementary for almost 8 years. During this time, she has taught first grade and served as the grade level chair for her team for 6 years. Born in Vidalia, Georgia, Ms. Burns graduated from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia with her Bachelors of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. Later, she received her Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from her alma mater and her Talented and Gifted and Reading Endorsements through MRESA. Ms. Burns believes in building positive relationships with her students and families and loves watching her “Busy Bees” grow throughout the year. Ms. Burns has been inspired and shaped by the passionate, loving, & hard-working teachers throughout her education and in her school building. For fun, Ms. Burns enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, reading, running, taking pictures, traveling, and playing tennis.

REMINDER REGARDING CLASS PARTIES
Per the District and District Policy
Dear Parents or Guardians,
As we approach Halloween, it is important to remind families and students that candy, desserts, baked goods (store bought/homemade), or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours. Students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for insubordination and all food items will be confiscated. Please discuss this expectation and possible consequences with your student(s).
Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package. Also, to reduce the interaction of front office staff with visitors, any Halloween deliveries will not be accepted.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping all of our students safe at school!

A medida que nos acercamos a Halloween, es importante recordarles a las familias y estudiantes que los dulces, postres, productos horneados (comprados en la tienda / hechos en casa) u otros artículos comestibles no deben venderse ni distribuirse durante el horario escolar. Los estudiantes que no cumplan con esta expectativa están sujetos a medidas disciplinarias por insubordinación y todos los alimentos serán confiscados.
