Sara Gillespie

Email Ms. Gillespie

Sara Gillespie represents areas in Alpharetta, Roswell, Mountain Park, and Milton.

Sara Gillespie represents District 1 on the Fulton County Board of Education, an area that primarily serves Roswell and parts of Alpharetta, including the Centennial, Roswell and Milton high school clusters.

Mrs. Gillespie joined the School Board in 2024 to fill a vacated seat and was then elected to a four-year term in 2024. Throughout her career, Mrs. Gillespie has served as a leader with experience in both the education and business sectors by initiating and managing budgets, directing community outreach, creating communication strategies, managing recruitment and volunteer roles, and supporting continuing education for women and children.

Mrs. Gillespie lives in Roswell with her husband, Joe, and two children who attend Fulton County schools. She is active in her children’s education, and has served as co-president of the Mountain Park Elementary School PTA and the school’s science lab coordinator. She also has served as a board member of Roswell Youth Lacrosse and a volunteer with the Junior League of Atlanta. These positions reinforced her belief in the vital importance of community and parental involvement in children’s education and fueled her desire to take a more active role.

A graduate of Saint Mary’s College with a degree in mass communications, Mrs. Gillespie began her career in marketing and advertising but felt drawn to education. This led to a career in college admissions, where she helped students, in both private and public schools, pursue higher education. She also has worked in the career placement field by collaborating with employers to match them with qualified candidates from diverse educational backgrounds. This gave her insight into the skills students need to thrive in today’s workforce and the importance of preparing them for life’s challenges.

Mrs. Gillespie’s career experience, combined with her passion for education, provides her with a unique perspective on education policy and how to manage taxpayer dollars effectively to achieve the best outcomes for students.

Board member since 2024. Term expires on December 31, 2028.
