    Costa Rica Summer 2024

    Costa Rica’s Natural Wonders Tour, June 2024

    Have you ever wanted to explore a Costa Rican rainforest or try to catch a glimpse of a sloth in its natural habitat? Mrs. Sofia Nisar (8th grade science teacher) is offering students the opportunity to join a 7-day, educational trip to Costa Rica in June 2024. This trip is open to students who are currently enrolled at Hopewell Middle School. Parents are welcome to join as well. Highlights of the trip will include:

    • Visit Rincón de la Vieja National Park
    • Zipline through the Costa Rican canopy
    • Take a cooking class and learn about sustainable farming
    • Enjoy a boat tour of the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
    • Visit La Fortuna Waterfall

    Arenal Volcano embodies the powerful geothermal forces that formed Costa Rica. From zipping through a forest canopy filled with monkeys and macaws to hiking to La Fortuna Waterfall, your students will marvel at Costa Rica’s natural beauty and amazing biodiversity. Seeing it firsthand will inspire a lasting respect for the environment.

    Treasures of Thailand, June 2024  

    Have you ever wanted to visit a monastery, see an elephant up close in their natural habitat, or learn more about Thai culture? Mrs. Nilson (8th grade science teacher) is taking a group of middle and high school students on an 11-day, educational trip to Thailand in June 2024. This trip is open to students who will be 14 years* or older at the time of the trip. Parents and siblings are welcome to join us! Younger students can also attend if a parent accompanies them. 

    *Exceptions are sometimes made for younger students, but permission requires a formal request and meeting with Mrs. Nilson.

    Highlights of the trip will include:

    • A boat tour of Chao Phraya River and the Thonburi klongs
    • Visit the enormous Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho
    • See the beautiful Erawan Waterfall
    • Visit the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
    • Visit Mae Taeng Valley and an elephant sanctuary

    From the bustling metropolis of Bangkok to the serenity of Saiyoke National Park, you will gain a broad understanding of this spectacular kingdom. Navigate the Chao Phraya River canals and battle for bargains at busy markets. Experience the warmth of the Thai people and test your spice threshold with their flavorful cuisine. Every destination and experience will add new depth to this immersive tour of Thai culture and its natural surroundings.
