Phases of Face-to-Face Return & Universal Remote Learning (URL) at RCMS
Beginning September 21, 2020, RCMS and Fulton County Schools enter "Phase 3" of our cautious approach returning to face-to-face instruction. During Phase 3, students and families optionally attend school one day per week; the other days they continue Remote Learning from home or continue fully in remote learning if they wish not to participate in face-to-face instruction. Parents and students are provided information below about Phase 3 and the Remote Learning model.
Latest Phases & Universal Remote Learning Updates
For Phase 3, 9/21/20 through 10/2/20, these groups and days reflect the only students permitted to attend in-person:

- (No students attend Wednesday)

How Students Login to Microsoft Class Teams
Q & A for Universal Remote Learning
One assignment per week on average is graded or recorded in Infinite Campus.
Ridgeview students exclusively use Microsoft Classroom Teams to access the lesson, assignment, activities, and to submit their work.
That's correct. Each day Monday-Friday (except Wednesday in Phase 3) Ridgeview students should logon no no later than 8:50 a.m. They should follow their class schedule and continue logging on to each class throughout the day. The first 35 minutes of each class is live with their teachers and classmates, and the remaining 15 minutes is not live. During the last 15 minutes of each class, students may be finishing assignments. On Wednesday, students have an asynchronous day where they do not do live check-ins with teachers. This day in Phase 3 helps them acclimate to the middle school schedule and provides time to complete work or receive help. Attendance on Wednesday is taken when the student completes a short Microsoft Form online from each teacher.
We know that most families have a smartphone with data that can be used as a temporary "hot spot" or have wireless internet to allow student devices to login to Microsoft Classroom Teams.
Additionally Comcast is offering 2 months free internet to new Internet Essentials customers in response to recent and anticipated emergency measures associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) https://www.internetessentials.com. Xfinity has turned on free access to community hotspots which can be located using their website feature and your own address to find the nearest free Xfinity hotspot https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/open-xfinity-wifi-hotspots and http://wifi.xfinity.com/#find-a-hotspot.
Teachers will post a recording of each day's live lesson so that students can view it later for additional help or can watch it later if they missed the class. However, if a student does not attend the live session of each class, the student will be marked unexcused in Infinite Campus.
During Universal Remote Learning, technical support will be provided to students and families managed through FCS. The hotline number is 470-254-2300, and help can also be accessed through the Fulton County Schools Website. Additionally, our Media & Instructional Technology Educator Mrs. Gunter is available to assist. That contact information is on the right-hand side of this page.
The entire Ridgeview staff is working at Ridgeview during Universal Remote Learning daily from 8:25-4:25. You may call or e-mail us at any time. Staff members are expected to respond to communication within 24 business hours (excluding weekends).
To assist RCMS parents and families in helping students track assignments and work completion, teachers have daily and weekly lesson plans that are available in Microsoft Teams to students and in Online Folders to parents. Parents click here, find your teacher's name/grade, and access their weekly lesson plans by date. Plans are made available on Friday for the next week. Our teachers are also happy to share those plans with parents through e-mail; simply reach out to the respective teacher using our staff directory.
The FCS Remote Learning Hotline is open daily and can assist with almost any technology glitch or problem. They can also "remote in" to the student's device so that they can see what the student is seeing and provide assistance. Call at 470-254-2300.
