Universal Remote Learning Information at RCMS

  • During the course of the school year, varying conditions may necessitate that Ridgeview and/or the entire Fulton County School System switch to what we call Universal Remote Learning. Universal Remote Learning is when students and staff teach and learn remotely at home, without reporting to the school campus, so that teaching and learning can continue even when disruptions prevent us from physically coming to the school building. At RCMS, when we engage Universal Remote Learning, students use their assigned student device to access Microsoft Teams for live instruction and assignments following a typical school-day schedule. Universal Remote Learning may be utilized in instances of inclement weather which prevent safe travels on the roadways or in instances where community health prevents us from holding school.

  • Ridgeview students should logon to Microsoft Classroom Teams each day for each class period?

    Posted by:

That's correct. Each day Monday-Friday Ridgeview students should logon no no later than 8:50 a.m. They should follow their class schedule and continue logging on to each class throughout the day. Asynchronous time, or work time, will be provided at teacher discretion. Remote students should be reminded that their attendance in the course is based upon being logged in for the entire class period, camera on, actively participating.

  • What if we do not have internet access?

    Posted by:

We know that most families have a smartphone with data that can be used as a temporary "hot spot" or have wireless internet to allow student devices to login to Microsoft Classroom Teams. If you do have connectivity issues, the student should immediately reach out to the teacher in the same day. In an exceptional circumstance, an assignment may be able to be completed and turned in that day for attendance purposes.

Families who have selected remote instruction must ensure that they have reliable, consistent internet access to support learning from home.

  • What if we know we will be unable to logon for a class period or for part of one day?

    Posted by:

If a student does not attend the live session of each class for its entirety, the student will be marked unexcused in Infinite Campus. If this occurs, the student should reach out immediately in the same day to the teacher.

  • Lesson Plans Clipart

To assist RCMS parents and families in helping students track assignments and work completion, teachers have daily and weekly lesson plans that are available  in Online Folders to parents. Parents click here, find your teacher's name/grade, and access their weekly lesson plans by date. Plans are made available on Friday for the next week. Our teachers are also happy to share those plans with parents through e-mail; simply reach out to the respective teacher using our staff directory.
