The Band & Orchestra Program needs your help for the 2023-24 school year.
Band and Orchestra are so much more than classes we take in school. This collective program is comprised of concert groups at every level – from picking up an instrument for the first time to future professional musicians – and includes Concert Bands and Orchestras, Marching Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, Jazz Ensemble, School Musical Pit Band, and Orchestral Chamber Ensembles. We have a place for anyone who has ever wanted to play an instrument and perform in front of an audience.
We are performers. We perform at various venues throughout the year. In the past, you may have seen us at the Sandy Springs Arts Festivals, the Sandy Springs Sparkle Parade, the Governor’s Mansion, and of course, Riverwood Raider Football Games. We even performed at Carnegie Hall not so long ago.
We are competitors. Each group competes against other bands, orchestras, and color guards at local and regional levels. We also provide spirit and support at Riverwood sporting events and pep rallies.
We are future leaders. In addition to the musical aspect of our program, we are also an inclusive organization that provides students the opportunity to experience a sense of community and realize that the sum of who we are is far greater than any one individual. It provides a safe, accepting place to learn the importance of working in tandem with other people, how to be team players, how to fit into a community, and how to do our fair share.
Running a successful Band and Orchestra Program is expensive. The cost of instructors, instruments, equipment, uniforms, props, and travel adds up to tens of thousands of dollars each year. Additionally, we fund scholarships to ensure that every student who wants to participate in the program is able to do so. While the cost is steep, the return for the investment is invaluable.
The Band and Orchestra Board’s (BOB) mission is to encourage the advancement of Riverwood’s Award-Winning Instrumental Music Program through service advocacy and financial support including:
Clinicians and Coaches
Transportation to Events
Instruments and Equipment
Annual Student Awards and Banquets
Band, Orchestra and Guard Workshops and Competitions
Scholarships to Participate in Co-Curricular Activities
Large Group Performance Evaluations (LGPE) Music Scores and Recordings
This is where we need your help. We are asking friends, neighbors, and relatives for contributions to support the band and orchestra program that will also be an investment in the future. Please consider donating - no amount is too small.
