Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Brian Downey

Dear Parents, Students and Community Members;

On behalf of the entire staff at Northview High School, I would like to welcome our students and families back for the 2020-21 school year.  On Monday, August 17th students will begin the year by attending their classes remotely.  Student schedules are now available through Infinite Campus.   Students will be expected to follow their class schedule and log into their virtual classes via Teams daily at their specific class times.

Communication will be sent regularly to keep you informed during this untraditional start to the school year.  You will hear from our Fulton County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Mike Looney as well as myself and your students’ teachers.  Please thoroughly read each and every email sent and discuss these emails (especially changes in the delivery of the education model) with your students.  Keep in mind, YOU, as parents set the tone.  In the eyes of your student, be positive and understand we are doing our best as we manage the education process at Northview for 1800+ students and 93,000+ students county-wide.

Our priorities for reopening remain centered on two critical concepts:

  • Protecting the health, safety and well-being of our students, teachers, and community.
  • Uphold our mission to instill excellence in academics, arts, and athletics in our students.

Now that we have scrubbed the building, established physical distancing rules, put hand sanitizers all over the campus, gotten used to wearing masks, and established screening protocols for those entering the building,  we will begin phasing in face-to-face learning on these dates:

September 28:              Phase III:  all students may return to school one full day a week

October 5:                    Phase IV: all students may return to school two full days per week

October 14:                  Face to Face learning begins will ALL students returning to the classroom five days per week.

Or, they may choose to finish out the semester with online learning.

If your student is having trouble in their classes with assignments/concepts, or isolation.  Reach out.   Email the teacher, counselor, administrator, tutor or even Summit Counseling Center (678-893-5300).  These are hard times for everyone, especially our students.   We are here to help you.

As always, please contact me if you have any concerns.  Or, if you see something great happening in your student’s classroom or sports field, let me know!  Together, we can ensure a great school year for your student (no matter how crazy the start has been)!
