    STUDENT REGISTRATION GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION

    2021 – 2022

    Please use the 2021–2022 Course Catalog to select your classes for next school year. The guide is available online at www.fultonschools.org/centennialhs .  You are responsible for researching the course selections that interest you.

     

    STEP 1: Teacher Recommendation Phase

     

    February 1-12, 2021 – Teachers begin academic placement of students.  All course recommendations entered by teachers will be based on semester 1 grades.  Please read the online curriculum guide to gain an understanding of which courses are most appropriate. Students can speak with their teachers about academic placements for the 2021–2022 school year.  This is the time to ask questions and to choose classes.

     

    A.P. Night – Students interested in taking an AP course are encouraged to attend A.P. Night on Wednesday, February 3rd at 5 PM.  In order to waiver into an AP course, you must submit a waiver by April 16thCurrent teachers will be recommending students for all AP courses.  Students should speak with their current teachers if they are interested in an AP course in any content area.

     

    STEP 2: Student Elective Phase

     

    February 15-19, 2021 - Students will rank electives using an online Microsoft Form.  Student’s must fill out the form completely and enter electives/alternates in each space provided regardless of their certainty that they will receive top choices.  Failure to choose alternates will result in a student’s counselor choosing electives for them.

     

    STEP 3: Clean Up Phase

     

    Feb. 22nd-26th: Counselors will enter electives and clean up proposed student classes.

     

    STEP 4: Verification Phase  

     

    March 1st: Students will log into Infinite Campus and see their proposed courses for next year.  If there any issues, the students will access the school website and click on a Form to detail scheduling issues.  Counselors will make changes as needed.  Changes to academic courses require subject-area teacher approval.

     

    FVS or GAVS Online Course Registration Forms will be on the school website.  FVS Forms must be submitted to the student’s counselor and registration completed for the course.  GAVS registration may or may not be available.  Online courses involve time management and technology skills to be successful.  Students that don’t meet the deadline will default to Face to Face Learning.

     

    March 8th– Students will log into Infinite Campus and see their proposed courses for next year.  This is the second and final verification phase.  If there any issues, the students will access the school website and click on a Form to detail scheduling issues.  Counselors will make changes as needed.  Changes to academic courses require subject-area teacher approval.

     

    STEP 5: Course Waiver Phase

     

    March 22– Course Waiver Forms will be available to students from  3/22 – 4/16.  These forms are requests to increase rigor for recommended courses and involve commitments from parents and students (AP, IB, Honors).  The process for submitting them will be explained in more detail on our website.

     

    STEP 6: Online Course Request Due Date

     

    April 30th– All online request forms must be submitted by April 30th.  Students must submit and register for all online course requests by April 30th.  Late submissions will not be approved.  April 30th is the deadline for all SUMMER, FALL, and SPRING online requests.

     

      

    STEP 7:

     

    April 26th – May 26th - Schedule changes will be made for students submitting waivers.  This is the FINAL opportunity to adjust the level of the classes for which students have registered.  Now is also the FINAL time to speak with current teachers and counselors regarding scheduling issues.   

     

    STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SELECT ELECTIVES FOR THE 21 -22 SCHOOL YEAR IF THEY FAIL TO SUBMIT AN ELECTIVE OR VERIFICATION FORM. 

    ***Some AP and honors courses have summer work/reading that is due upon return to school.  It is your responsibility to know which classes have assignments.  Schedules will not be changed because a summer assignment was not completed.

    NO SCHEDULE CHANGES WILL BE MADE AFTER May 26, 2021

     

    AP COURSE PROCESS

     

    Students,

    Current teachers of Core Classes (Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies) will make all placement recommendations for the next level AP course in their content area.  If you are interested in doubling up in a certain content area you must let your current teacher know to place you in two AP courses.  For example, if you are interested in taking AP Biology and AP Environmental Science, you would need to let your current science teacher know.

     

    If you currently do not have the prerequisite grade for your desired AP course, you must submit an online course waiver from March 22nd  to April 16th.  All waivers will be reviewed and accepted provided there are seats available.  A final review of all waivers will take place at the end of the school year once final grades are posted. 

     

    If you have any questions regarding the AP Placement Process, please speak with your teacher or counselor prior to the February 9th deadline.
