Kindra Smith was named Principal of Riverwood International Charter School in 2019 and has twenty-nine successful years working with the Fulton County School district. Her experiences include serving as a teacher at Crabapple Crossing Elementary, Assistant Principal of Northwestern Middle, Principal of Roswell North, and Principal of Elkins Pointe Middle. Ms. Smith is originally from Centerville, Tennessee, and has called Georgia her home since 1995.
Ms. Smith received her undergraduate degree on a basketball scholarship from the University of North Alabama, her master's degree from Kennesaw State University, and her Specialist degree from the University of West Georgia in Educational leadership. After her fourth year of serving as Principal of Roswell North, Ms. Smith was selected as Fulton County’s Principal of the Year for her steadfast commitment to seeking success for all students through data-driven decisions, innovative practices, strong support for teachers and her “on the ground” community engagement efforts.
During her current tenure as Principal of Riverwood International Charter School, she successfully led her school and community through the 2020-2022 pandemic crisis to still realize a significant increase in her school’s 2022 graduation rate to 97.5, second highest in the district.
Ms. Smith enjoys writing music, singing, and rooting for the Falcons. She and her husband Michael have two children, Tori and Trey. She was inducted into the University of North Alabama Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in October 2021. She is currently working on her doctoral degree from South Carolina State University with an anticipated graduation date of December 2024. Ms. Smith’s mission is for every student and adult to feel loved, supported, and motivated to achieve at their highest level and leveraging the support of all stakeholders to support overall school success.
