Welcome to Heards Ferry Elementary, A Primary Years Programme IB school and a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School! I hope that you find our website helpful in learning about our school.
I am Lisa Nash, the proud principal of this wonderful elementary school in the heart of Sandy Springs. I began my journey at Heards Ferry in October of 2013. I have loved every minute of being here and feel very lucky to be the principal at HFE. Prior to coming to Heards Ferry, I worked in Fulton County as a the Principal of High Point Elementary, a classroom teacher, Curriculum Support Teacher (CST) and Assistant Principal. I grew up in Columbus, GA and received my BA from the University of Alabama and my M. Ed in Educational Leadership from Georgia State.
I truly believe that we provide a world class education for our students in a warm and nurturing environment. It is my hope that when you step through the front doors of our school you will feel the safe, warm and welcoming learning environment we strive every day to provide. When you walk through the halls, you will see a friendly atmosphere with dedicated teachers and staff, supportive and involved parents and meaningful hands-on learning.
Our mission at HFE is to develop self-motivated globally minded thinkers through inquiry and reflection. In order to do this, we implement a variety of instructional strategies, innovative practices, technology resources, hands on learning, and inquiry based lessons. Our students are encouraged to take action when they see a need. We aim to strike an important balance between holding the highest academic standards and ensuring the development of the whole child physically, emotionally, intellectually, and ethically.
I could not be more proud of our school! I believe that my job is to ensure that we provide a safe learning environment where students feel valued and empowered as citizens who are tasked with the important job of making a difference in the community and the world.
