Greetings Asa G. Hilliard Community and Visitors,

I am excited to begin this 2023-2024 school year with each of you as principal. I am even more excited about the future of Asa G. Hilliard Elementary and the things we will accomplish together this year. My sincerest hope is that our Panther PRIDE shows through in all that we do.

Dr. Asa G. Hilliard said “I have never encountered any children in any group who are not geniuses. There is no mystery on how to teach them. The first thing you do is treat them like human beings and the second thing you do is love them.” As a strong school community nestled in East Point, our vision for our school community is to provide genius-awakening experiences for all our students. I truly believe that every child can excel and is innately gifted with genius, and it is our duty to treat them as such. This year we will also work to increase student achievement in all content areas through a focus on intentional planning and prioritizing individual student needs in a joyous environment.

My charge to all of those involved with the growth and development of our school community is to #THINKGENIUS as we work to provide an environment that awakens the genius in all. Our belief in our students’ ability is the pinnacle of their success. This charge goes to our staff, families and community members. I am a firm believer in that our partners make us stronger, and you all truly are our partners in this work.
