About our School
-
Named for famed African-American educator, Mary McLeod Bethune, the school is a warm and caring place that invites learning and cooperative teaching. Students are encouraged to excel in everything that they do. Bethune embraces the community and enjoys a strict tradition of parent involvement and community volunteers.
Students and teachers live the school motto, “Bethune Panthers...On the Prowl for Excellence!” Students, parents, and community enjoy many school traditions including a Block Party, Fall Festival, Mother Daughter Breakfast, Father Son Breakfast, Grandparent's Celebration, Breakfast with a Super Citizen, and many other family oriented activities. Volunteers and staff have coordinated numerous events to increase student awareness of the arts and to enhance/enrich the curriculum. Traditions like these make this school a family affair.
A school wide focus on technology has brought new equipment and software programs. With over new computers, Bethune has been able to equip each classroom, a science lab and two computer labs. The school has eighteen “ActivBoard” these interactive boards are distributed in classrooms and labs around the building. Our School Technology Specialist introduces new software and hardware to staff and students, assists teachers and students who are eager to utilize the Internet, and provides technical support.
There is a strong tradition of parent and community support for Bethune. We would like to continue building that foundation with Bethune’s community, business partners and business friends. They have been actively involved in programs that emphasize family and community involvement and we appreciate everything that you do.
“On the Prowl for Excellence!”
