Greetings Ocee Community!
I am excited to welcome each of you back for another year at Ocee Elementary School! If this is your very first year at Ocee Elementary, I know that you are going to love our little school. As a member of the school community as well as the neighborhood, I can honestly say that Ocee is truly an #OtterlyAmazing place to learn.
Our hashtag for this year is #WeOtterBeTogether. There is an old African Proverb that states “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” At Ocee, we know that our power is greater collectively. Last year our students experienced much success because the Ocee staff worked collaboratively to provide strong Tier I instruction and positive experiences for our Otters. Additionally, we were able to work in partnership with the BEST school community in all of Fulton County—your support was invaluable to our success. Finally, our students leaned in together to embrace the challenges of returning to full-time, in person school and did an excellent job of closing gaps that developed during the disruption of the pandemic. I am confident that we will continue to build upon these achievements to move the learning forward for students.
The Ocee school team is committed to remaining focused on achievement and academic excellence while providing an enjoyable school experienced filled with positive memories for our students. This year we will continue our focus on providing strong Tier I instruction to all students with an emphasis on differentiated small group instruction and strengthening our students’ writing skills. We are excited to begin implementing the evidence-based practices we have been learning in our Science of Reading training and can’t wait to see the impact it will have on preparing our Otters to be strong readers and lifelong learners.
Our goal is always to ensure that Ocee is an #OtterlyAmazing place to learn and grow for students and adults. We are committed to making a difference for every Otter in this building. It is going to be an amazing year!
Again, welcome back for the 2022-2023 school year!
