Funding the Bridge
Funding the Bridge to Success
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United States Congress passed three bills to provide immediate and direct economic assistance to state and local educational agencies through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER I, II & III) funds. These funds were provided to support school districts’ academic and non-academic components that suffered the greatest impact because of COVID-19. The funding is also intended to support states and local school districts’ efforts to safely reopen schools, address significant gaps in learning, and support programs and initiatives that will continue to reduce the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on students and families.
