Audiology
Educational audiologists are trained to diagnose, manage, and treat hearing disorders. Educational audiologists are members of the school multidisciplinary team (504 or IEP) who facilitate listening, learning, and communication access via specialized assessments. Duties of an educational audiologist may include performing full diagnostic hearing evaluations, monitoring hearing instruments, managing hearing assistive technology (HAT), providing and recommending support services and resources, advocating on behalf of students, counseling children to promote personal responsibility and self-advocacy with regards to their hearing needs, and collaborating with private sector audiologists and school professionals to facilitate student learning.
