ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
English Learners (ELs) face unique challenges in the classroom as they strive to learn academic content while their English language skills are still developing.
The Fulton County ESOL program provides support for English language acquisition and development of skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing through content based instruction. By combining language-rich classes with standards-based instruction teachers create an environment that is both nurturing and academically rigorous as they prepare students to fully participate in mainstream classrooms.
The ESOL department provides specialized training and on-going support for ESOL and mainstream teachers, school administrators, and support staff. Our goal is to equip all school personnel to work effectively with English Learners throughout the school, thus enabling these students to achieve their full educational potential
