Governor's Honors Program

Governor

In accordance with the Georgia Board of Education Rule 160-4-2-.09, Fulton County Schools accepts nominations for the Governor's Honors Program (GHP). Students in grades 10 and 11 who attend a Fulton County high school or home school in Fulton County may be nominated by a subject-area teacher.

Student nominations originate with a classroom teacher. Teachers may nominate any student that has demonstrated superior achievement, aptitude and high interest in the area of nomination. Nominated students are invited to participate in a local interview process to determine if they can advance to the state level competition. Fulton County strives to promote fairness and equity in the selection process of GHP candidates. Students are not selected based on their gender, race, school, district, or geographic area, nor does the program have a bias for juniors over sophomores. All decisions are final and cannot be appealed. Due to the large number of nominations, this process in not intended to provide individual student feedback or suggestions for improvement.

Students who attend a Fulton County high school and are nominated by a subject-area teacher will receive complete details on the nomination process from the GHP Counselor at their school.

Homeschool Parent/Students who reside in Fulton County should contact the Advanced Studies Department for additional information on the program and the nomination process.
