Federally Identified Schools
Each year, we and our partners at the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) hold schools accountable to that goal through many different measures such as graduation levels, standardized test scores, student and parent surveys, etc. Every school in our District is expected to continuously improve.
Federally Identified Schools: However, in December, the state publishes a list of the small number of schools which have failed to meet GADOE and district expectations (see below). Fulton County Schools works in collaboration with the GADOE to improve these schools for our students. Such schools receive more funding, personnel, leadership guidance and training and are held to higher levels of accountability and monitoring.
Promise Act Schools: Additionally each year, the Governor's Office of Student Achievement calculates a list of school performing in the lowest 25% of all public schools (see below). Eligible families in these schools may qualify for the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program. This program provides up to $6,500 annually to cover private school tuition, homeschooling expenses or other qualified expenses. Program regulations, eligibility requirements and additional information can be found on mygeorgiapromise.org.
