Note: The following announcement was place on the FCS website homepage on July 23, 2018
Fulton County residents are invited to the School Board meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. regarding the 2019 (TY 2020) millage rate.
The tentative 2019 millage rate for Fulton County Schools is 17.796 mills which is lower than the rollback millage rate of 18.568 mills. THE ROLLBACK MILLAGE RATE IS CALCULATED BASED ONLY ON THE REASSESSED EXISTING REAL PROPERTY. This rate will result in a decrease in property tax revenue from reassessed property by 4.16% based on the calculated 2019 tax digest.
Each year, the board of tax assessors is required to review the assessed value for property tax purpose of taxable property in the county. When the trend of prices on properties that have recently sold in the county indicate there has been an increase in the fair market value of any specific property, the board of tax assessors is required by law to re-determine the value of such property and increase and adjust the assessment. This is called a reassessment.
When the total digest of taxable property is prepared, Georgia Law requires that a rollback millage rate must be computed that will produce the same total revenue on the current year’s digest that last year millage rate would have produced had no reassessments occurred.
The recommendation is to keep the millage rate at the current rate of 17.796.
All concerned citizens are invited to the School Board meeting to be held at the North Learning Center, 450 Northridge Parkway, Sandy Springs, Georgia on July 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM.
