    Happy New Year 2024

    The new year is here, and January brings the opportunity for a fresh start. What goals will you set to make 2024 your year? Here are 10 ideas for New Year's resolutions for parents. We hope you make the best of them!

    Israel Young

    Communication is Key for Cliftondale's State Beta Club President

    When Israel Young, a 5th grader at Cliftondale Elementary, decided to run for president of the Georgia Elementary National Beta Club, he knew what he had to do.

    "I made sure to establish communication with my Beta club members at school, and with the students at the convention in Savannah," Young said. "Communication is key."

    Ecospartans

    North Springs "Ecospartans" Claim Victory In Statewide Competition

    The North Springs High School EcoSpartans are on the frontlines of a battle to make the world a greener place. The EcoSpartans are a team of Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Engineering students led by North Springs teacher, Dr. Sharmila Durai. The EcoSpartans recently claimed victory in the Georgia Power Careers in Energy Week Student Challenge. This is the second year in a row North Springs took home the winning title.

    LEAD CTAE Class

    Fulton County Schools Announces the LEAD CTAE Class of 2023-24

    FCS is known for having one of the most robust Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs in the state. Recently, two CTAE teachers were named to the 7th Leadership Exploration and Development (LEAD) class of 2023-2024. Only 20 educators across Georgia are admitted each year.

    FY 2025 Annual Budget Process Kicks Off

    As the district begins its annual budget season, we pledge to remain transparent as we continuously update our community about the Fiscal Year 2025 budget planning process. Be on the lookout over the next few months for further communication as we share additional information.

    Hardship Transfer

    Hardship Transfer Application Window is Now Open

    Applications are available beginning January 1, 2024 for parents who wish to apply for a 2024-25 hardship transfer or to renew a current hardship to another FCS elementary, middle, or high school. This applies to students and parents seeking a hardship transfer for medical reasons, curriculum differences, and childcare situations or for employees’ children. The deadline is Thursday, Feb. 29 by 4:30 p.m.

    Magnet Application

    Magnet Program Application Window Closes January 15

    FCS offers several magnet programs throughout the district to provide opportunities for students to explore curricula focused on specific areas of study. Programs currently offer studies, including international studies, business, visual and performing arts, math, and science. The application window closes on January 15.

    Revised 2023-24 Board Meeting Calendar

    At last month’s Board meeting, a revised 2023-2024 Board meeting calendar was approved which includes a new location for the January 18, 2024 meeting and changing the meeting date in May to Wednesday, May 15.
    Please see the revised schedule with dates marked in yellow.
