Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th for all those who served in the U. S. military. It was in 1954 that Congress passed a bill declaring the holiday. FCS is celebrating in a big way by having a Veteran's Day Recognition Ceremony on November 9th. The administrative center lawn will be filled with tents and chairs hosting Fulton County Schools' veterans, school JROTC cadets, guests, and community leaders.

FCS will launch its inaugural districtwide Family Engagement Week November 14-17, with a celebration honoring National Family Engagement month.

The district will host four events during Family Engagement Week at four schools – two in the north district and two in the south district. Host schools are:

- Banneker High (11/14)

- Elkins Pointe Middle (11/15)

- Riverwood High (11/16)

- Bear Creek Middle (11/17)

Activities will include a family culinary night complete with taste testing, nutritional education, and recipes to take home and make as a family. Also, a family STEM night will feature a challenge that incorporates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in several ways. Click here for registration links.

Legacy of Excellence Awards Honors Employees

We truly believe our employees are the heart of Fulton County Schools. Last month, FCS hosted its annual Legacy of Excellence Awards at the Georgia World Congress Center. This exciting celebration which honors each school’s teachers and professionals of the year was hosted by WSB-TV Anchor Fred Blankenship and featured outstanding musical performances by some talented students from Westlake HS, Campbell ES, Brookview ES and Banneker HS, whose drumline escorted Overall Teacher of the Year Precious Bayan to the stage with an energetic entrance. Meet our honorees!

Open Enrollment 2023

October marks the time of year for Open Enrollment, when employees who are eligible for benefits make changes to, or enroll in, the benefits program for the 2023 plan year.

This year, Open Enrollment started on Monday, October 17, and will end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 4. Employees needing assistance with plan selections should contact the Benefits Department. Please check your email for additional information.

Here are a few reminders for this year:

• Flexible Spending must be re-elected every year:
• The FSA provider is CAS (Consolidated Admin Services) - new enrollees will be issued a new debit card via US mail.
• The maximum for the Health Flexible Spending Account (HFSA) will be $2,850 for 2023.
• The HFSA pays for employees' out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses as well as their dependents.
• Elect the Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account (DFSA) only if you have children in daycare.
• Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and phone numbers are required for all dependents.
• If electing Dental, Vision, and LifeLock be sure you specify which dependents should be covered and their information is accurate in Benefit Focus.
• If you change plans, your Wellness Credits will roll over to the new plan on April 1^st.
