Ms. Jessica Grier- School Counselor

8th Grade Counselor

Jessica Grier is a native of Decatur, GA where she currently resides with her husband. She is a graduate of Spelman College (2014) and Richmont Graduate University (2019). She has worked in many capacities as a Teacher and Mental Health Counselor. She is proud to be faculty member at Woodland Middle School where she serves as a School Counselor. Mrs. Grier is looking forward to addressing the mental, emotional, and social health needs of students so they can lead a purposeful life. In her free time, Mrs. Grier enjoys working with her K-12 girl scout troop and serving in ministry.

Ms. Shonobe Morgan- School Counselor

7th grade counselor.

Ms. Morgan is a graduate of Florida A&M University and has dedicated the last 10 years of life working in the school system. She’s published three books surrounding her life story that empower young adults to believe in themselves and put their first foot forward regardless of their upbringing.  She previously worked for Communities in Schools for the past 7 years and enjoy providing scholars with resources needed to be successful in life. This is her first year being a School Counselor and is thrilled about serving your 7th graders. She takes pride in developing scholars on an academic, social emotional and career level. Ms. Morgan is the parent a of 17-month-old jewel that keeps her on her toes. She enjoys skating, traveling around the world and spending time with her family.

Denise McDonald-Taylor- Graduation Coach

Denise McDonald-Taylor currently serves as the Graduation Coach/SST Chair for the 2020-2021 school year here at Woodland MS. Her main goal is to help scholars remain on track for their targeted graduation date by supporting scholars and their families with social, emotional and academic resources thereby facilitating a successful middle school experience. She has been an educator for twenty-three years, previously serving as a Reading Specialist, Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, and Administrative Assistant. Over the past six years, she has enjoyed taking students on in-state and out-of-state college tours, coordinated the Junior Achievement Experience for the 6th and 7th grade scholars, as well as the annual Summer Bridge program. Additionally, she has been the point of contact for afterschool programs such as Future Foundation, ARROWS, and Land of Promise, which is a weekly food program that supplies students with food backpacks for the weekend. “You didn’t come this far just to come this far” is a saying I firmly believe and together with support, encouragement, and hard work, all students will experience success!

Shari Simpson- Student Services Clerk

Ms. Simpson is a graduate of Tuskegee University and has over 30 years of customer service experience. She has been employed with Fulton County Schools for 15 years in the position of Student Records Management and Support Services which include activity bus driver. Ms. Simpsons is the parent of two former Woodland Middle Schools students. She takes pride in providing professional customer service that includes identifying and addressing the needs of family members with regard to school enrollment (or transfers) by utilizing resources and collaborating with our administrative staff members, outside agencies, other school systems and Fulton County constituents.
