Hopewell students are issued a Fulton County laptop and charger (Approximate dimensions are 13" X 9" X 1"). Since students are not allowed to carry their backpacks between classes, we ask that parents provide a small, protective device bag/sleeve for students to transport their device/charger. They should not carry books or other items in the device bag/sleeve to help protect the laptop from pressure damage/cracked screens which incurs a FCS device fine.
Missing or damaged laptop items may be paid for on OSP (there is a small service charge for using the Online School Payment System). You may also bring cash or money orders to the HMS front office. Our school DOES NOT accept personal checks.
Fines for Device Damage, Loss, or Theft:
- Lost/Stolen: $260 via OSP ($250 cash or money order)
- Damaged: $104 via OSP ($100 cash or money order) (examples of damage: cracked screen, pressure damage, liquid spilled on device)
- Lost/Damaged Charger: $32 via OSP ($30 cash or money order)
- Lost/Damaged HMS Device Bag - $15 via OSP, cash, or money order
Device Help
Students may get help with their Fulton County device during the day by visiting our School Technology Specialist, Mr. Cowart, during his office hours (2nd, 4th, and 8th period). Mr. Cowart will repair the device or swap it if needed. If the device is damaged, a fine will be applied to the student's account. See above for the fine structure. Parents may pay for fines on OSP, or the parent or student may bring cash/money order to the front office.
Please contact our School Technology Specialist Kaney Cowart for more information about Fulton County devices.
Device Distribution
Device Deployment will take place Monday, August 14, 2023 during homeroom.
All HMS students will be issued a Fulton County Device and charger on Monday, August 14, 2023. If you prefer that your child use a personal device brought from home, please see the information below about opting out.
Students who want to OPT OUT and will use a PERSONAL DEVICE:
Students who wish to use their personal device do not need to receive a Fulton County device. One will be provided to them during Milestone testing. Please fill out this form to opt-out of receiving a Fulton County device. Hopewell uses Microsoft products, so please make sure your device has access to Word, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. You also can download Microsoft 365 for free onto your personal device. Click here for more information. The Fulton County website has more specifics if you want to ensure your device is appropriate.
NOTE: Students Who Still Have a Fulton County Device
Students who currently have a Fulton County device due to participation in summer school or a Fulton Virtual class should return them to their home school or summer school location as soon as their class is done. They will be issued a new, reimaged device once school begins.
