About Our School
Long before Manning Oaks Elementary was even a dream on the planning table, the Manning family was influencing many aspects of life in Alpharetta. The first Mannings in Alpharetta were two brothers, Robert D. ("Bud") and Reuben Simeon. Originally from South Carolina, they came to Alpharetta from Cherokee County as young men. Reuben and his wife, Mary Teasley had four children, two of which were James Howell ("Howell") and Benjamin Franklin ("B.F.") Manning.Howell Manning (1873-1943) was very active in the leadership of the Methodist church. He also served in the Georgia legislature as a state representative. In 1894, he taught at the Bethany School. An indication of life in those days, his teaching contract stated that he would teach from November through April and then again for two months during the summer. This schedule accommodated the vital farming calendar, allowing students to help with the planting and harvesting of crops.
The Manning Oaks Elementary administration is committed to providing a collaborative learning environment that challenges and supports your child's learning and meets the goals of the school's mission statement.
