    Assistant Principal Nancy Lahey lahey@fultonschools.org

Ms. Lahey is originally from Lynbrook, New York, but has called Georgia home for 25 years.  After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Cortland, Nancy began her teaching career in Dekalb County Schools.  Ms. Lahey had the opportunity to teach third and fourth grade at Knollwood Elementary school from 1993-1998.  While teaching at Knollwood Elementary, she earned her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Georgia State University.  In 1998 Nancy was awarded Teacher of the Year at Knollwood Elementary.

Ms. Lahey left teaching at the end of 1998 to dedicate her time to her three wonderful children, Zach, Cameron, and Samantha.  When all of her children entered elementary school, Ms. Lahey was anxious to get back into the classroom as well.  She accepted a teaching position at Hembree Springs Elementary in Fulton County Schools in July of 2007.  Nancy had the opportunity to teach fifth grade for eight years at Hembree Springs and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2012.  In 2015, Ms. Lahey was promoted to Curriculum Support Teacher at Hembree Springs and has served as the CST from 2015-2018.

As CST, Nancy was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit classrooms and impact the school beyond the walls of her classroom. She worked with the staff on instructional strategies, professional learning communities, served as the 504 and Student Support Team co-chair, and was the GO-TIP Induction Advisor for new teachers. She is very passionate about continuing her leadership journey at Elkins Pointe Middle School.  Nancy has always had a passion for the middle school-aged child, and she believes she was born to teach and work with children.

Ms. Lahey is looking forward to continuing her work at the middle school level and making a positive impact on the students and the community.  She is excited to be a part of a dynamic leadership team at Elkins Pointe where they are smart, happy, and connected!
