Multicultural Night is Back to Stay!
North Springs High School's Multicultural Night recently returned after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The event, organized by the World Language department, co-led by Ms. Ferris and Ms. Kent from the Dance department was held on Thursday, March 9th, and aimed to promote cross-cultural understanding and community involvement.
The event was a much awaited one, and the students and family were not disappointed. The evening began with students performing culturally rich programs during the 4th period and from 6 pm to 6:30 pm at the auditorium. Students showcased cultures and traditions through dance, music, and other performing arts, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of the school's community. The event featured performances from various cultures, including Belly Dancing by the North Springs Dance Company, song "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by Jordan Bartlett, LatinX Dance Mix by Alondra Villavicencio-Anguiano and Mario Ruiz, dance "Welcome to the Caribbean" by the North Springs Dance Group, song "Stand up" by Krerstin Dykes, Lion Dance Dragon Dance and song "A Brunch of Plum Flower" by the Chinese Culture Club and a Liberian poem "Native Tongue" by Cymby Conde .
After the performances, the whole school community was invited to enjoy food and many other fun culture activities in the cafeteria. These activities included Chinese painting, calligraphy, paper cutting, name writing in various languages, picture taking with Roman costumes and the Spanish Honor society was selling hand woven bracelets to help raise funds for education in Nicaragua. The event was a great opportunity for students to learn more about different cultures and traditions, engage in cultural activities, and interact with the school community.
The organizers and participants alike were thrilled with the success of the event, which celebrated the diversity of cultures within the community. Events like these are essential in promoting cultural understanding, breaking down barriers, and building a more inclusive community. It was a great event, and everyone is already looking forward to next year's celebration.
