New North Springs Music Out for Download!
Our amazing AIE students (music industry and production) have just completed their latest project. We had four groups of students working as songwriters, performers, recording engineers, and producers. They composed, rehearsed, and recorded four original songs. These are now streaming on our BandCamp site at https://7447records.bandcamp.com/.
- Sins of the Father – an original song written and sung by Chris Drake. It has an alt-country/southern-rock vibe. Credits include:
- Music and Lyrics by Chris Drake
- Chris Drake, Vocals & Guitar
- Brendan Richards, Guitar & Bass
- Jace Rubenstein, Drums
- Production & Engineering by Journey Burks, Jaeda Iman, Sam Kuran, & Miles Moncrief
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown
- Cut My Hair – an original song written by Brad Cruz. Fun fact, Brad plays drums, guitar, and sings on this track, which he only learned to do in the past couple of years. This song is pure alt-rock. Credits include:
- Brad Cruz, Vocals, Guitar, & Drums
- Brendan Richards, Guitar
- Shia Smith, Bass
- Production & Engineering by Trinity Davis, Reagan Fizell, and Byron Vale
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown
- Dream – this one is a little different. As an original hip-hop production, a lot of the work was done in the box in a very collaborative way by Caleb Cephus, Christopher Janowski, and Colt Reinstein. Caleb is rapping and Chris and Colt did the production work on the track.
- Maui – this R&B song was written about the fires in Hawaii. A lot of students worked on this, including:
- Music, Lyrics, & Production by Kierra Barrett, Evelyn Brown, Zavier Josey, Ethan Liddell, Solomon Morgan, Matthew Rachowsky, Sylvia Schuessler, Kortney Wright, & De'Marcus Young
- Kortney Wright, Vocals
- De'Marcus Young, Vocals
- Sam Kuran, Piano
- Solomon Morgan, Drums and Vocals
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown

Student Spotlight!
I would like to share with you amazing success of one of our freshman students Jiayi (Joy) Li.
Joy auditioned and has made the Fulton County Honors Orchestra for viola! Only 16 viola students from all Fulton County high schools were selected and Joy is one of them.
What is amazing is that Joy started playing viola only a couple of months ago! You can imagine how hard she worked to be selected among all high school violists (many of which have been playing viola for years) and to achieve this outstanding honor. Joy will be participating in the FCS Honor Orchestra event at Centennial High School on Monday and Tuesday next week.
Please congratulate Joy when you see her.

NS Wins 2023 GA Power "Careers in Energy Week"
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. I am thrilled to share some incredible news with you all that has filled me with immense pride and joy. For the second year in a row, our students have emerged victorious in the prestigious Georgia Power “Careers in Energy Week High School Student Challenge“.
I recently reached out to our dedicated teachers and our high school family, requesting support for our two amazing teams who participated in this year's competition. Thanks to the overwhelming support we received in terms of video views on YouTube, both our teams ended up in the top three positions, vying for the ultimate victory.
Today, I am delighted to announce that one of our teams has clinched the first-place title, making them the undisputed champions of the 2023 Georgia Power “Careers in Energy Week High School Student Challenge”. This incredible achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit of our students. It's a moment of immense pride for all of us.
Our students have not only demonstrated their exceptional talent but have also showcased the strength and unity of our school community. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every teacher, staff member, student, and parent who supported our teams by watching their YouTube videos, thus contributing to this remarkable success.
I am so proud of our students for their outstanding performance, and I want to share this momentous achievement with our entire high school family. It's a reflection of the incredible potential that exists within our school, and I have no doubt that our students will continue to achieve greatness in all their future endeavors.
Once again, thank you for your support, and congratulations to our brilliant students on their well-deserved victory!

Stream The North Springs Custom Soundtrack for Where Words Once Were
Students from our B1 music production class created original music for the theatre department’s fall production, Where Words Once Were. That album is available to stream or download (for free) on BandCamp here: https://7447records.bandcamp.com/album/where-words-once-were
The album consists of original music used for underscoring and transitions, as well as some songs that we were not able to use. Where Words Once Were is a dystopian play about the role of language in personal and societal autonomy. The music is inspired by dystopian, minimalist, bleak, and sometimes hopeful movies, music, games, etc. The students did an amazing job at capturing the mood of the play, and I am proud of the work they did.
Credits for this album include…
Michael Brown - Music Supervisor, Production, & Editing
Solomon Morgan - Music Manager, Composition, Production, & Editing
Kiera Barrett & Journey Burks - Sound Effects
Evelyn Brown & Sylvia Schuessler - Script Cues
Samuel Kuran & Ethan Liddell - Music Performance & Composition
Matthew Rachowsky - Music Production -
