Name: Dr. Robert Shaw
Bio: A native of Windsor, Connecticut, Robert Shaw has lived in Georgia since he was 17. After high school he served in the U.S. Army as a Multi-Channel Communications Soldier for four years. He served two of those years in West Germany, and participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Following an honorable discharge, Shaw completed a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Social Studies at Kennesaw State University while working his way up into management at UPS.
With his bachelor’s, Dr. Shaw taught social studies at Avondale High School in DeKalb County and Campbell and Pope high schools in Cobb County, while earning a Master’s in Education, Educational Leadership at Kennesaw State University. After obtaining this degree, he moved into administrative roles, first as an assistant principal at Pope High School, and then principal at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County and Riverwood International Charter School in Fulton County.
In 2011, Dr. Shaw obtained his Doctor of Education degree, School Improvement from the University of West Georgia. His dissertation is titled, “Georgia Public High School Principals’ Understanding of FERPA.” Since 2013, he has been a part-time instructor at Kennesaw State University.
Dr. Shaw became principal at Roswell High School in 2017.
He has received numerous awards in his career in education, including most recently Fulton County Schools Principal of the Year for the Central Learning Community in 2016.
Shaw lives in Cobb County. He enjoys spending time with his wife Shannon and their three daughters.
