Kate Kowalske

Mrs. Kowalske is the media specialist here at Crabapple. This is Mrs. Kowalske's first year at Crabapple and  she is very excited about working with middle schoolers. Before Crabbapple, Mrs. Kowalske taught English at Cambridge High School.  She graduated form Kennesaw State with a degree in English education and shortly after completed a masters in school media. Her favorite book is The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien . When not in the library Mrs. Kowalske enjoys looking after her houseplants, drinking tea and playing with her dog Chuck.

Melanie Smith

This is my 13th year working in the Media Center at CMS. Prior to that, I was a computer programmer with BellSouth. I have a degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University. I have 2 children – Samuel and his wife, Grace, live in St. Louis Missouri and are working on PhDs in English. Evie lives in Davis, California, and is working a PhD in Horticulture and Agronomy. My husband, Wayne, retired from Accenture and volunteers in the Media Center. I like to read mysteries, Historical Fiction and Biographies. I was named for a character in Gone with the Wind.

Hours Of Operation

  • Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm for book check out and computer usage. Students arriving early (8:00-8:20 AM) need to sign in and work quietly on school projects.

    4+ pages  = $.05 per page
