Fall 2003

GDOE End-of-Course Study Help: The curriculum department will provide assistance at this website to teachers to help prepare for this initial offering of the end-of-course testing. With further input from test results and teachers, changes and additional information will be included.

The State Department of Education has selected the following courses as courses that will have an end-of-course tests:

  • Math: Algebra 1 and Geometry
  • Science: Physical Science Biology
  • Social Studies: Economics and U.S. History
  • English: Ninth Grade Literature and Composition and American Literature and Composition

All students taking any of the EOCT courses will be tested.

Students who enter the 9th grade in 2001-02 and who pass EOCT courses prior to Spring 2003 will not be held accountable for those specific tests for graduation purposes.

All eight EOCT will be administered for the first time in Spring 2003; there will be no phase-in for administration purposes. Phase-in will occur for any graduation requirements tied to the EOCT. The 2002-2003 9th grade entering class will be the first class affected by any state-mandated graduation requirements.

There will be three administrations per year:

  • Winter - during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of November
  • Spring - during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April
  • Summer -during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of July

The administration windows have been designed to coincide as closely as possible with the ending.
