Amos Liu
Amos Liu, a violist, is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in
Chamblee, GA, graduating from Henderson High School, He received his
Bachelor of Music at Columbus State University where he also served
as the university's CMENC chapter president for two years. He is also
a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonian Fraternity (OASAASLLS).
During his time at college, he has also performed as a violist in the
LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the Auburn Symphony Orchestra, the Albany
Symphony Orchestra, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. In his Senior
year at collge, he was an assistant strings teacher for a starting strings
program at LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, GA. Currently, Mr. Liu is near
the final stages of receiving his Masters in Music Education from Boston
University.
Mr. Liu has held the position of orchestra director at Fulton County's
River Trail Middle School since its opening in 2001. Outside of River
Trail, he has also taught at the Upbeat and Bravo string summer camps
and keeps an active private lesson studio for over twelve years.
Under his direction, the River Trail Middle School Orchestra have earned
numerous awards, The Concert Orchestra earned the Silver Star Award
and the Chamber Orchestra won both the Gold Star Award and the Sweepstakes
Award in the Overall Orchestra Division of the Southern Star Music Festival
of 2007. In the past, his Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform
at the 2003 National Middle School Association Convention, the 2006
American Strings Teachers Association National Orchestra Festival, and
the 2008 Georgia Music Educators Association Conference.
