THE RULES (2011-2012)

COMPUTER USAGE POLICY:

• Students must restrict their usage of lab computers to course related purposes, as directed by the instructor.
• Students must not engage in the following activities while logged on lab computers: downloads, e-mails, chats,
   videos, or music.
Students must not access inappropriate sites on the Internet.
Students must not save documents on computer hard drives; all work must be saved on the drive designated by    the school technical specialist.
Students may not use or insert any memory sticks/flash drives into computer USB ports.
Students may not access DOS or the BIOS.
Students may not complete any computer work for this course EXCEPT on the school computer network, and in the
   classroom.
Students must log off the computers once the daily assignment has been completed.
Students may not shut down or restart computers without instructor permission.
Students may not willfully circumvent the computer lab monitoring software.

RECOVERY:

Grade recovery opportunities will be allowed if a student's performance indicates a significant decline in achievement or a failing cumulative average. Students are responsible for contacting the teacher concerning recovery opportunities. Teachers will establish a reasonable time for recovery work to be completed. All recovery work must be completed ten school days prior to the end of the semester.

Recovery is not for the student who has been failing for many weeks, then wishes to recover during the final days of a course. Students must complete all required work before recovery can be initiated. If a student has any "zeros" then he/she is not eligible for recovery until such assignments are complete (if the student is eligible to complete the assignment).

Teachers will determine when and how students with extenuating circumstances may improve their grades.

MISSED WORK/EXTRA HELP:

Each student is responsible for work missed due to absence.  Students may make up missed work or receive extra help Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:50-8:20 a.m. in Room 4201YOU DON'T NEED AN APPOINTMENT to come in. The Computer Lab is CLOSED ON FRIDAY MORNINGS.

Students are required to make up all missed work within the number of days that they were absent from school.  Failure to meet the make up requirement will result in a grade of zero for the missed test/assignment. An excused absence is needed for full credit. Make-up work following an unexcused absence will be penalized by 10% each day. Students receive 100% credit for missed work due to an excused absence.

Students who have extenuating circumstances that prevent making up missed work should e-mail or talk to their teacher.

LATE WORK:

Late work will be accepted with a 10-POINT DEDUCTION for every class day that the assignment is late.  However, no assignment will be accepted more than 5 school days late, and a zero grade will be entered for such an assignment.

BEHAVIOR REQUIREMENTS:
All Milton High School student handbook rules apply, as well as the Fulton County Student Code of Conduct.  In addition, students are required to exhibit correct “office behavior” at all times.  This includes respect for fellow students, teachers, equipment, textbooks, and supplies.  Failure to meet applicable behavior standards can result in students not being allowed to participate in class field trips.

WORK ETHICS GRADE:
As an extra credit incentive, students can receive a Work Ethics grade for each semester. Students are evaluated on attendance, punctuality, attitude, workstation, and time management. Click here to see a copy of the Work Ethics grading grid.

The Work Ethics grade is worth 10% of the overall class grade (see course syllabus). Grade reports list the Work Ethics grade as "Class Participation." If students comply with all Work Ethics requirements, they receive a Work Ethics grade of 100. If not, students receiv a null grade which does not effect their cumulative grade average in the class.

TARDY/ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students crossing the threshold as the tardy bell rings are marked tardy.  The attendance policy is as follows:
1st tardy Warning
2nd tardy Contact parent
3rd tardy Private detention
4th tardy Write-up to designated administrator

All students who are absent should check the Lesson Plans link on the home page of this site for missed lessons PRIOR TO their return to class.
