Ms. Hawkins

Ms. Hawkins
earned her B.A. in Business Management from the University of Maryland, and
an M.B.A. in Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
She also holds an A.A. degree in Communications Technology. Biology course
work was completed at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City.
She received her teacher certification in Business Education from the State
University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia.
Ms. Hawkins served for
8 years in the United States Air Force, where she held such positions as Air
Force Historian, Public Affairs Officer, Purchasing Contractor, and Telecommunications
Specialist. Tours of duty included:

Higley, Arizona
•
Tokyo, Japan
Ms. Hawkins
worked in the corporate world as a Human Resources professional. She held such
positions as EEO/AA Officer & Special Programs Coordinator (Sandia National
Laboratories); Hispanic Outreach & Student Services Program Manager (Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory); and Director of Programs (NCEA, Inc.).
Ms. Hawkins has taught Career & Technical Education for 18 years, and concurrently
taught Biology for 3 of those 19 years, at Milton High School. Her teaching
philosophy is simple. Higher student expectations lead to higher student
achievement. Ms. Hawkins has always placed an emphasis on problem solving,
real world application, and effective use of technology to facilitate learning.
High school
courses taught include Business Management, Business Law, Entrepreneurship,
Finance, Computer Applications, Web Site Design, Word Processing I and II, and
Business Procedures.
Ms. Hawkins
founded the S.E.C.M.E. (Science, Engineering, Communications, and Mathematics
Enrichment) Program at Milton High School in 1994, and served as
S.E.C.M.E.
club sponsor for two years.
