The Fulton County School System announces that Paul Brown is the new principal of McNair Middle School. He will start his new position February 1.
Brown has been an educator in Fulton County for nearly his entire career. His most current post was principal of Brookview Elementary School, and before that was an assistant principal and teacher at Camp Creek Middle School. He also taught middle school math in the City of Atlanta school system and in Coweta County prior to joining the Fulton County School System.
Brown has earned a reputation as a strong leader who uses data to help create school improvement plans and instructional strategies that motivate students and teachers to achieve at higher levels. During his tenure, Brookview achieved Adequate Yearly Progress consistently and also received Title I Distinguished School status for six consecutive years. In 2007, Governor Sonny Perdue also named Brown a Georgia High Performance Principal for continually raising Brookview’s test scores and increasing students’ overall achievement.
In addition, Brookview was named a 90-90-90 School by the Georgia Department of Education under his leadership. This distinction meant that 90% or more of Brookview’s students were eligible for free and/or reduced meals, that 90% or more were members of ethnic minority groups, and that 90% or more met or exceeded the standards for state assessments.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in middle school education at the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in administration and supervision at the University of West Georgia. He currently is pursing a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Mercer University.
