Fulton County School System’s top employees will be honored Nov. 6 at the district’s annual recognition luncheon. Nearly 1,000 employees, business partners and special guests will gather to pay tribute to each school’s and administrative building’s employees of the year. The celebration also is a time when the school system formally thanks all of its business partners and honors the partnerships that have made outstanding contributions to student achievement.
The two-hour program begins promptly at 11:30 a.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center, located at 285 International Boulevard N.W. in Atlanta.
Meredith Reddy, a ninth-grade literature teacher at Milton High School, is Fulton’s 2009-10 Fulton County Overall Teacher of the Year. First named the system’s High School Teacher of the Year, she was then selected as the district winner from among two other Fulton County finalists: Katina Krass from Lake Forest Elementary School, who is the system’s Elementary School Teacher of the Year, and Linda Manley from Elkins Pointe Middle School, who is the Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Edwena Fields, a parent liaison at Paul D. West Middle School, will be honored as the Overall School Professional of the Year and Terry Mitchell from the Fulton County Schools Professional Learning Department will be honored as the Overall Support Professional of the Year. Business partnerships from several schools also will be spotlighted as “Prestigious Partners.”
All Employees of the Year receive special gifts from the school system, Fulton Education Foundation and event sponsors. The top five honorees will each get cash prizes as well as portable digital televisions from Office Depot. The Elementary and Middle Teachers of the Year also will receive Dell laptops while the Overall Teacher of the Year will be awarded a special surprise.
The event would not be possible without the generous sponsorships of several businesses. The Fulton Education Foundation is the platinum sponsor, and Ciber, Northside Hospital, Parsons and Wade Ford are gold sponsors. Silver sponsors include the law firm of Brock, Clay, Calhoun & Rogers, P.C., Fulton Teachers’ Credit Union, Georgia Power, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Layer3 Communications, Promethean and The Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Dell Computers, Napa Auto Parts and Verizon are bronze sponsors and Nalley Motor Trucks, Office Depot and UPS are copper sponsors.
