As a fitting way to end a great school year and begin the summer, Newsweek Magazine has named eight Fulton County schools in its annual list of 1,500 top-ranking public high schools in the United States.
Riverwood High School (No. 223), Milton High School (No. 307), Northview High School (No. 311), Centennial High School (No. 375), Alpharetta High School (No. 392), Roswell High School (No. 456), Chattahoochee High School (No. 532) and North Springs High School (No. 562) made the list. The entire report is online at www.newsweek.com/id/201160.
Public schools are ranked according to a ratio devised by Newsweek – the number of Advanced Placement and/or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in 2008 divided by the number of graduating seniors. Using this measurement, 1,500 schools were identified as being within the top 6 percent of all U.S. public schools.
