Third grade students at High Point Elementary have been working with the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs to become acquainted with "Words of Government." Students participated in activities involving the levels of government, recognition of U.S. presidents and campaigning for elected office.
Students acquired new vocabulary through dictionaries that were donated to each third grader by the Rotary Club. Mock elections were held to select mayors and city council members for each class. The civics lesson culminated with Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos visiting the third grade assembly to answer questions pertaining to her position and duties. After the assembly, Mayor Galambos took the opportunity to walk around the building to visit other classrooms at High Point.
