School bus safety celebrated with a song at River Eves Elementary
Saturday, October 31, 2009

Students at River Eves Elementary School participated in several schoolwide activities to recognize Bus Safety Week. They held an ice cream social for their bus drivers, and on that particular day, students took part in an assembly to learn about bus safety tips.

Music teacher Kathy Clark taught the entire student body a song that she wrote titled, “We Ride the Bus.” Fifth grade chorus students led the school in singing the song, which has the following lyrics:

We ride the bus.

Bus rules are cool.

We all face front and are seated.

Quiet voices all are needed.

And our hands are kept in our space.

We all want to get to school safe.

No loud talking heard on the bus.

Hitting causes such a big fuss.

Safety is our main objective.

We all want to get back home safe.
