State Superintendent Kathy Cox today announced that 33 schools from the Fulton County School System are winners of the Georgia Department of Education’s “Superintendent’s Distinguished Achievement” awards. This is the second year of the recognition program, and Fulton boasts an increase of five schools receiving awards over the previous year.
The awards recognize schools having the highest achievement and greatest improvement on the previous year’s state curriculum tests – Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), the Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT), the End-of-Course-Tests (EOCT) and state writing assessments.
“It is rewarding to see so many of our schools surpassing their peers statewide, but it is just as encouraging to know that many schools continue to improve upon their past performance,” said Superintendent Cindy Loe, Ph.D. “We must always move forward and strive to meet higher levels of achievement.”
Twenty-six Fulton schools receive ‘Achievement’ awards
In the “Achievement” category, 10 schools statewide were honored in each grade and subject area that had the highest percentage of students score in the “exceeding standards” category of the CRCT, GHSGT, EOCT or on writing assessments.
